These school holidays come on an underwater virtual reality adventure and meet some of our local species at the Marine Studies Centre!

In collaboration with Blake NZ-VR we are offering this engaging and educational one-and-a-half-hour session where you will experience VR videos filmed by New Zealand Geographic around coastal Aotearoa. We will compare northern and southern, pristine and degraded marine environments. We will investigate what causes ocean damage, as well as what actions can be taken to protect the moana.

After our VR adventure we will do a tour of the centre, getting a close-up look at our local species in the touch tanks, aquarium and under the microscopes. We will also take a deep dive in the virtual submarine and visit the laboratory to learn about current marine science research.

Please note this event may not be suitable for those who experience photosensitivity or epilepsy.

This event is for ages 10+. The VR headsets are not suitable for children under 10 years.
