Leading research in the diabetes and primary care space
Department of Medicine Seminar
Associate Professor Lynne Chepulis, Division of Health, University of Waikato
Associate Professor Chepulis has a background in physiology, with a specific interest in primary care research, particularly as it relates to the management of type 2 diabetes (T2D) and cardiovascular disease (CVD). She currently leads two HRC-funded health service delivery project grants, the first to explore the optimisation of medication for type 2 diabetes, and the second a randomised controlled trial delivered from within primary care to evaluate the role of continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) alongside kaiāwhina and optimised clinical care for supporting whanau with high-risk glycaemia / T2D .
Working within the Medical Research Centre within the Division of Health, Dr Chepulis leads large programs of work that are clinically oriented and focused on health service delivery. She also has projects underway to support the roll out of CGMs and automated insulin delivery for those living with type 1 diabetes, partnerships with regional PHOs to explore outcomes following the establishment of clinical diabetes and CVD dashboards and new studies underway to explore how we can best support and manage youth and young adults with T2D.
This talk will provide an overview of these studies, including the partnerships and teams that make it all possible, and areas for future collaborations.
