Distinguished Professor Peter Hunter was, until recently, the Director of the Bioengineering Institute at the University of Auckland. He was appointed to the New Zealand Order of Merit (2010), is a previous recipient of the Rutherford Medal (2009), and an elected member of the Royal Society (London and New Zealand).

Peter’s major research interests include modelling many aspects of the human body using specially developed computational algorithms and an anatomically and biophysically based approach. The interrelated electrical, mechanical and biochemical functions of the heart, for example, have been modelled in the first ‘physiome’ model of an organ.

Come along and listen to Peter’s talk to find out how energy-based frameworks underpin the anatomy and physiology of the human body.
