Congratulations to School of Biomedical Sciences (BMS) staff for considerable success in what was a challenging year.

The 2024 BMS Research and Teaching Awards were presented at an end-of-year function at Cumberland College on Friday, 6 December.

BMS Dean Professor Lisa Matisoo-Smith says she and the rest of the school are immensely proud of the breadth and depth of both teaching and research success.

“We know we offer outstanding biomedical and molecular science teaching across our five departments and two programmes, and it is clear given the funding we attract, the publications we produce, and our involvement in international conferences that the quality of the research and the commitment of researchers and support staff from our school is recognised as world-class.”

Lisa says the awards reflect the passion from all staff for their areas of expertise across research and teaching.

“That commitment has really shone through this year. I’m particularly heartened by the calibre of our emerging early career researchers, which is why we have two recipients this year.”

“This year we also presented two Teaching Support Sustained Contribution awards to recognise the efforts of those we rely on behind the scenes.”
