OUSA Senior Event Coordinator Rae Walker, third from the left, says Art Week is a chance for students to share their creative side.

It’s time to dig out your paints, find your camera and tap into your creative side, OUSA Art Week is back.

Art Week celebrates art of all forms, be it painting, sculpture, digital art, music or poetry, says OUSA Senior Event Coordinator Rae Walker.

“It encourages students to get involved at every skill level, sell their work, test the waters or just have fun.”

Both Otago University and Otago Polytech students can participate in Art Week. Students can submit work to be displayed in the week-long exhibition, enter in the competitions or attend any of the events taking place during the week.

Any students wanting to exhibit works or enter some of the friendly competitions will need to do so by Friday, 2 August (see full details on how to enter via Facebook here or the OUSA website). There is the poetry competition, annual photo competition, the electronic art competition, and the Future DJ event.

Rae says some of the competitions have a theme, but the exhibition and Future DJ competition are a chance for people to just “show us what you got!”.

Members of the public are welcome to peruse the exhibition and check out the Art Week market day on Wednesday, 14 August.

OUSA Art Week 2024 runs from Monday, 12 August until Friday, 16 August.
