A large and appreciative audience attended this year’s symposium which was held on July 27 in the Union Common Room and Hall in Dunedin.
Guest speaker Professor Louise Parr-Brownlie opened the day-long event with her talk “Weaving equity and innovation into biomedical research”.
The balance of the programme was then devoted to our postgraduate students who shared their research through a series of three-minute talks, ten-minute talks and a poster session.
Chair of the symposium organising committee, Associate Professor Peter Mace says, “the day was a fantastic celebration of the depth and breadth of research in the school.
“Our guest speakers, Professor Louis Parr-Brownlie and Professor Greg Jones, shared intriguing insights into their evolving career trajectories.
The postgraduate students did a great job of communicating the impactful work they are carrying out across fundamental, biomedical, and biotechnological science, says Associate Professor Mace.
“I think everyone learned a lot about research in the School, and plenty of new connections were made. Congratulations to everyone who contributed to making the day successful, especially the postgraduate symposium committee and Sara Milne for administrative support.”
Professor Lisa Matisoo-Smith says, “the postgraduate symposium is always an uplifting day – to be able to see and hear about the amazing research that is being done in the School and experience the enthusiasm of the postgrad students gives me hope for the future.”
