Around 50 Year 11 students from Kapiti and Parapaumu Colleges visited UOW and CCDHB on 10 May 2013. The students are part of the Health Science Academy programme at both colleges which aims to support high achieving students transition into health science qualifications at University.
Students spent the day undertaking a range of interactive activities. They learnt about New Zealand's only Bachelor of Radiation Therapy programme (a three year undergraduate course) only offered at UOW and toured the University campus. Students also visited the DHB's Regional Centre for Simulation and Skills Education, where they experienced simulated clinical training from basic clinical skills through to demonstrations involving computerised and interactive manikins.
