Boston alumni event
The US-based Otago Alumni Association (AUOA) was delighted to host a gathering of alumni and friends at Boston's WorkBar in March. Hosted by Board directors Phil Graham and Jacinta Calverley, the function was especially targeted to medical and health sciences, life sciences and scientific research alumni in the greater Boston area and was AUOA's first local 'in-person' event for a number of years.
A highlight of the evening was a livestream video conference with Dean of the Dunedin Medical School, Professor Joanne Baxter (Poutini Ngāi Tahu, Ngāti Apa ki te Rā Tō) who shared the story of her journey to her current role, and discussed some exciting research and developments being led by the Otago Medical School.
Attendees made the most of this opportunity to connect with each other, compare notes on their professional and personal journeys since leaving Otago University, and reminisce about the many fond memories they have of their time in Dunedin.

The University was thrilled to be able to meet with its alumni in Australia at events in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane in May. These events included a breakfast with the Highlanders' coaches in Sydney and our first event in Brisbane for a number of years. It was a privilege to meet with alumni and hear about their journey since graduation. Thank you to those who were able to attend and we look forward to future opportunities to meet:
