Otago student Ruby Hudson presenting the work she is carrying out towards her MSc thesis
Surveying and Ōtākou Whakaihu Waka were represented at the NZ Coastal Society Conference held in Ōtautahi | Christchurch in late 2024.
MSc student Ruby Hudson presented the work she is doing for her thesis “How can a hierarchical geomorphic framework be used to improve coastal management on the East Otago Coast?” Surveying lecturer Emily Tidey also presented a summary of work using low-cost GNSS that has been undertaken by herself and colleague Associate Professor Robert Odolinski. Her presentation included updates from work recently completed by student Ryan Slattery as part of his BSurv(Hons) thesis “Using low-cost GNSS receivers for precise measurements in the marine environment.”
Both presentations were well attended and the conference provided an excellent opportunity for networking with like-minded engineering, surveying, geography and planning professionals who work in the coastal environment.
