Call for Papers: NZASIA Conference Best Postgraduate Essays

Submission deadline: 1st October, 2017 at 5pm New Zealand time.

The New Zealand Asian Studies Society (NZASIA) is pleased to sponsor two postgraduate prizes for the best student papers at the 2017 conference. The prizes aim to recognize outstanding student achievement in research on Asia and award students who display a high level of scholarship in their work. We hope the prizes will also motivate students to develop their conference papers for publication. Two prizes, NZ$300 and NZ$200, will be awarded for the best papers. Winners will also receive a complimentary one-year full NZASIA membership including a one-year subscription to the New Zealand Journal of Asian Studies. In addition, winners will be invited to submit their papers to the New Zealand Journal of Asian Studies; note, however, that publication is not guaranteed as journal submissions are subject to standard review procedures. Applicants must be currently enrolled postgraduate students registered for the conference. Winners will be announced at the conference dinner.

Eligibility

All currently enrolled postgraduate students who have registered for the conference are eligible to be considered for the prize. Papers submitted should be based on the student's thesis research or other original research on any Asia-related topic and should not have been previously published or recently accepted for publication.
