Justin Tirados, north campus
I first used flow cytometry during my Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences with Honours wherein I optimised a phosphoflow cytometry technique to detect phosphorylated proteins along cell signalling pathways.
I then continued using flow cytometry while completing my PhD degree. During my PhD, I started working on spectral flow cytometry where my passion for the field developed. I optimised a 27-colour immunophenotyping panel.
I enjoy talking with people about their research and how flow cytometry can be used to answer their questions.
The quality of flow cytometry data is reliant on good panel and experimental designs. It is best to get advice at the onset of your flow cytometry project from the flow cytometry staff, experienced users, and flow cytometry companies.
