The Education Unit oversees and assists staff in the design, development, maintenance, and evaluation of the Otago Medical School MB ChB curriculum on the Dunedin campus. The Unit also supports staff professional development and represents the Dunedin ALM programme on various subcommittees of the Medical Curriculum Committee.
The Unit is headed up by the Associate Dean Medical Education (ADME) and includes an Education Adviser, eLearning Facilitator, Clinical Skills Directors, and administrative staff.
The Unit also hosts the Professional Practice Fellow – Responsible for the teaching of “communicating in challenging situations” and the Module Convenor for Clinical Pharmacology.

Associate Dean Medical Education ( ADME )
The ADME is responsible for leadership in the development of the MB ChB curriculum within the Wellington campus and regional sites as part of the Otago Medical School.
The ADME coordinates course delivery through liaison with module convenors and with the School Curriculum Committee to ensure that the School is meeting the overall objectives of the medical programme. The ADME is also responsible for the 5th-year OSCE examination, the orientation course, and overall timetabling.

Education Adviser (EA)
The Education Adviser is available to assist staff in a range of educational matters including: the planning, development, delivery, assessment, and evaluation of courses, professional development, research with an educational focus, and confirmation pathway processes.
eLearning Facilitator (eLF)
The eLearning Facilitator facilitates design and development of quality online, and blended, teaching and learning processes and assessment. The facilitator also collaborates with staff on related research.
Clinical Skills Director
The Clinical Skills Director provides support in the development and enhancement of clinical skills across the curriculum.
