South Asian women participants needed from across New Zealand for a study to investigate the lived experiences of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus in NZ South Asian Women.

Currently recruiting two groups of participants across New Zealand:

  1. South Asian women (from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Nepal) who have been diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) and accessed services within the last five years in New Zealand.
  2. We are also recruiting healthcare professionals (e.g., midwives, diabetic nurses, and dietitians) who have provided care to NZ-based South Asian women during gestational diabetes. Your unique expertise and experience are invaluable to our research study.

Participants will have to fill out a survey and a telephone interview for a maximum of 60 minutes. Participants receive a $50 grocery voucher for completing the study.

To register for the study, contact Dr Sumera Akhtar at 021 279 1591 or email sumerasaeed.akhtar@otago.ac.nz.

This project has been approved by the University of Otago Human Ethics Committee (24/004).
