Taking it in her stride ... The Department of Medicine's Lauren Bailey.
A team from the University's Wellington campus won first prize in the Corporate Teams' half-marathon section of the Wellington marathon recently - it had the four fastest runners.
Those students were Dani Hermann (01:29:53), Kylie Allison (01:33:45), Matthew O'Sullivan (01:35:37), and Ed Palmer (01:36:20).
In total, 29 hardy students and staff took part in the event, with an early start for the full marathon runners, at 7.30am on a windy, rainy day. But the rain did pause after the shorter events began, making the walk/run around the waterfront refreshing and invigorating.
The only one person from the University to do the full marathon was the Department of Medicine's Lauren Bailey, in 03:58:28.
In the half-marathon, the University had two walkers and 11 runners; in the 10 kilometre event, six runners and five walkers; and in the five kilometre event, three runners and one walker.
