Launched in June 2008, the Dare to Succeed Homework Programme provides academic mentoring aimed at helping local Pacific secondary school students with their studies.

Aim of Dare to Succeed

Some of our Pacific students are academically able but underachieve due to poor work-habits and study skills. Linking Pacific secondary school students with suitable undergraduate and postgraduate students at the University of Otago provides these school students with positive role models and creates lasting mentoring relationships.

The aim of the programme is for Pacific school students to better understand the importance of gaining good academic qualifications at school so that they can build a strong foundation on which to aspire to undertake tertiary level study, creating opportunities for success and excellence in the future.
