Visiting Japanese group with several school staff.
The School of Pharmacy hosted a cohort of pharmacists from different locations in Japan sponsored by Medical Incubation System Inc. (MIS) and Apolo Medical Holdings. The group is interested in educating and motivating pharmacists from Japan in all other aspects of primary health care in New Zealand. They also have an interest in Medical Manuka Honey.
On Tuesday 27th October, 10 New Zealand enthusiasts from Toyko, Hokkaido, Sado Island, Fukushima and Kanagawa, visited the University of Otago's School of Pharmacy having previously met with the Mayor of Dunedin. Our visitors began their day with a presentation from the School of Pharmacy's Dean, Professor Stephen Duffull, who explained the education system process to becoming a pharmacist in New Zealand. “Despite all communication going through an interpreter, which in itself raised interesting discussions, the event sparked a lively and fun discussion on pharmacy in NZ and comparing this to pharmacy in Japan.”
Dr Susan Heydon followed Professor Duffull's presentation providing an insight into the New Zealand Health System, and Clinical Pharmacist, Angela Harwood finished off the day with her presentation on Professional Pharmacy Services in New Zealand.
