Overview
Opportunities exist in our internationally recognised research programmes to complete a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Physiology.
The MSc is a one- or two-year programme (depending on whether you enter at the first or second year of the MSc programme).
- One year MSc requires the previous completion of a 400-level degree in Physiology (BSc Hons, PGDipSc, BBiomed Hons) which includes a 60 point research thesis.
The MSc will be awarded after successful completion of a full year MSc research thesis. - Two year MSc requires to complete the following courses in year (PHSL471, PHSL472, PHSL474, PHSL480 and one 400 level paper of choice within the School of Bioedical Sciences).
The second year comprises the completion of a full year MSc research thesis.
Successful completion of the MSc enables you to apply for direct entry into the PhD programme.
Applications to undertake a two year MSc in Physiology are welcomed to start their studies at the beginning of either semester one or two.
Applications meeting the requirement above for a one year Master are able to start their thesis at any time during the year.
Candidates can be of any nationality and must have attained a degree in biomedical science or a closely-related subject.
Applicants must apply to the Department of Physiology as follows:
- Refer to the specific projects listed in our research opportunities database or seek out a supervisor(s) whose project(s) interest you the most. In your email, include the following:
- Your name and country of citizenship
- Your CV
- Certified academic transcript (and, if applicable, an explanation of the content)
- Certified evidence of English language proficiency (eg IELTS or TOEFL results) if applicable
- The names of two referees
- If your application is to be considered, the supervisor will contact you to discuss the next steps, and our Departmental Administrator will check that your documents are complete.
For further information on research in the Department, see our research opportunities database.
