Students with a BSc in Plant Biotechnology may take a Post Graduate Diploma in Science (PGDipSci) which includes either a PLBI 480 (Research Project) or a (PLBI 490) research project.
Students completing their diploma with a PLBI 480 research project are eligible to progress to a 1-year thesis only MSc degree. Students completing their diploma with a PLBI 490 research project may proceed to either a 1-year MSc thesis only degree or a PhD degree.
The PGDipSci programme also includes the same 400-level course work as set out for the Honours year above. Admission to MSc and PhD degrees is subject to obtaining a suitable standard in your PGDipSci with the qualification being awarded with credit or distinction.
Students with a BSc in Plant Biotechnology may also take a two-year MSc degree. The first year of this programme includes the same 400-level papers as the Honours year but PLBI 490 is replaced by PLBI 495 (Master's Thesis Preparation). The second year is then a thesis only year.
Students with a suitable Honours degree, MSc or PGDipSci, who wish to obtain a PhD, do so by being admitted to the PhD programme of either the Botany or Biochemistry Departments.
There is one dedicated 400- level PLBI paper
