I completed my undergraduate and Bachelors (Honours) at the University of Waikato in history and political science, with an interest in military history, alliance theory and alliance management.
My current research is focused on the ANZUS treaty, why the relationship between the United States and New Zealand broke down, what the consequences were for New Zealand’s foreign policy more generally and for other arrangements with the United States more specifically.
While there is plenty of research on the subject already, the vast majority of it was written in the decade immediately following the ANZUS crisis. Now, nearly 40 years later, far more information has been made available to the public, and more of the archives are now available.
My goal is to use these new archives to reassess the crisis, and see what it can teach for the field of alliance theory in general.
