Overview
Inflammatory Bowel Diseases are chronic disorders that require lifelong medications and monitoring. In New Zealand, only a limited number of medicines are funded through Pharmac. This makes it mandatory to optimize available treatment options. Non-adherence to medicines has been associated with worse clinical outcomes.
A previous PhD project has looked at nation-wide data to determine adherence and correlate with clinical outcome. The present opportunity will look at predicting factors including demographics, literacy, deprivation, location etc. for adherence and will conclude with recommendations aiming to improve adherence. Co‑supervision is being provided by Professor Rhiannon Braund, School of Pharmacy.
