Started while Anna Guenther was completing her Master of Entrepreneurship (MEntr) studies at the University of Otago Business School, and still working part-time, PledgeMe is an alternative funding method for creative projects. It provides a collaborative way to help fund creative projects for anyone who has an idea they want to see happen.
Over five years the platform has had over $15million pledged and over 1,100 creative, community and entrepreneurial campaigns - ranging from food forests through to a craft brewers.
“My research on crowdfunding showed that there are a lot of niche markets where this could be useful and with the potential for crowdfunding to become a valuable tool for start-ups as well,” she said. “Our success proves there is a need.”
PledgeMe now has three different ways to crowdfund:
- Pledgeme projects - Crowdfunding just about anything. Get your idea or project off the ground with the support of your crowd.
- Pledgeme equity - Crowdfunding for companies looking for investors or investors looking for companies.
- Pledgeme lend - Companies & organisations borrowing from their crowd and repaying with interest through crowdfunding.
