Bridget's background was in survey design. After 15 years designing social surveys at Statistics New Zealand, she joined the Ministry of Health in 2012 to work on the New Zealand Health Survey. Bridget had graduated with an MSc in Psychology 20 years earlier and decided to up-skill for her Ministry job by completing the PGCertPH and chose the endorsement in Health Services Policy.
“I found my lecturers inspirational and they encouraged great rapport within the class. I enjoyed getting to know my fellow students, many of whom were older students with a wealth of experiences.”
Bridget relished the broad perspective the content of the papers gave her. Her paper choices covered Society, Health and Public Policy, Epidemiology and Biostatistics. The later content was directly relevant and helpful to her current analytical work on the Health Survey.
“The PGCertPH was so rewarding that I am tempted to continue studying to improve my prospects for alternative careers within the public health sector.”
