About Jacqueline (Jacqui)

I have taught in a variety of primary, secondary and tertiary education institutions in NZ, the UK and the USA. My academic background includes both sciences and humanities, which has broadened my perspective on the discipline-related nuances of how teachers teach and how students learn. I believe teaching should foster a love of learning while actively encouraging students to become aware of the processes of learning through self-reflection.

My roles include providing staff and students with teaching and learning support and HEDC postgraduate programme co-ordination and development.

I also work collaboratively with academic departments in the area of curriculum mapping, linking programme and individual course learning objectives to the various university strategic frameworks (Māori, Pacific, Sustainability and Vision 2040) and teaching and learning policies and guidelines.

Research

My current research projects include

  • Benchmarking best practices in doctoral supervision
  • Online dexterity for students and teaching staff
  • How to mitigate the challenges of using the Delphi Technique in medical education

I have a particular interest in Mātauranga Māori and Pacific research perspectives and how they link to sustainability in tertiary education.

Supervision

I am available to supervise postgraduates enrolled in HEDU502.
