Current role
"I have a duel role of both clinical and management responsibilities. Clinically I am the Intensive Care Unit pharmacist where I attended a daily multi-disciplinary meeting and ward round that oversees our 18–20 bed critical care complex. With this clinical component, I also develop/update various hospital medication guidelines. I currently have a team of 10 pharmacists whom provide a clinical pharmacy service to their respective surgical areas which include general surgery, orthopaedics, burns, plastics, and Manukau surgery centre. My management role for my team members is to ensure that they all provide an effective, efficient clinical service that is sustainable. Their educational development is also an important component to ensure they practice quality use of medicines to their patients, hence provide relevant resources through readings/teachings and training folders to facilitate this.
Your Otago experience
"I loved studying at Otago University. Just like hundreds if not thousands of other students, it was the first time away from home and was initially terrified but quickly adapted. Not only is Otago an excellent institute to study at, it has great supportive systems throughout the campus. Dunedin is definitely the student city and being away from home potentially gives you more independence but also engrains life skills that are invaluable."
