The University of Otago is periodically reviewed by AQA – the Academic Quality Agency for New Zealand Universities. Audits have been carried out in 1996, 2000, 2006, 2011, 2016 and 2024.
AQA released the Report of the 2024 Academic Audit of the University of Otago - Ōtākau Whakaihu Waka in November 2024. This cycle examined Teaching, Learning, Support, Outcomes and Opportunities for Students with a focus on Access, Outcomes and Opportunities for Māori and for Pacific students.
