All Emergency Management is managed by the Emergency and Business Continuity Coordinator, Paul McNamara.
Emergency situations cover a very wide field of possible events that include (but are not limited to):
- natural disasters such as flooding, earthquake or storms
- hazardous substance leaks or spills
- infrastructure failure of roads in and out of Dunedin
- terrorism
- violence
- criminal activity and unrest
Any of the above has the potential to make the ongoing business of the University of Otago problematic at best.
An Incident Management Team has been selected from across the University and they undergo constant training and simulated exercises.
The Proctor's Office Campus Watch staff are the first responders from the University to any emergency situation that may arise on our Campus.
