The science of stories. The stories of science.
We connect people with science to inspire wonder, nurture greater understanding of the natural world, and empower meaningful action to address society's greatest challenges.
In addition to teaching creative thinkers how to use stories to communicate the science they are most passionate about, our innovative academic programme – delivered entirely by distance (online) to accommodate students' busy schedules – examines how people consume and use scientific information. Our teaching staff are leading figures in the creative science communication industry and are also actively engaged in conducting high-quality scientific research.
A versatile and uniquely marketable education
With a special applied focus on creative nonfiction science and natural history writing, we cover a broad range of creative science communication practice, including multimedia, filmmaking, podcasts, events, and exhibitions.
To enable students to develop their skills and interests further through real-world experience in a workplace environment, we offer a popular internship paper with a range of professional partners.
The need for effective and powerful science communication is greater than ever. Our graduates have had excellent career placements in this increasingly in-demand industry, including coveted positions in filmmaking, at prestigious museums throughout the world, private think tanks and government agencies, and with high-profile publications.
This course was by far the best part of my university experience. The hands-on style was stimulating and the learnings I took from this course were invaluable… enabled me to go on to get a job as a science communicator.
