The Otago University Science Academy targets potentially high achieving science students from rural/provincial, small, Kura and formerly lower decile schools all across New Zealand.
The Science Academy consists of two, week-long residential science 'camps' in January and July, together with participation in an on-line Science Communication project in small teams.
In addition, a dedicated series of on-line tutorials in NCEA / Scholarship Biology, Physics and Chemistry are offered after the July camp in the run-up to NCEA External exams at the end of the year.
Our programme has a strong focus on analytical thinking and problem solving, the important role of communication and the way science in the 21st Century also considers social and ethical concerns.
Alongside the student programme Science Academy also offers a Teacher Professional Development programme (see our website).
