Course approval
Course approval is the process by which a student's finalised course (papers) for the year or semester is accepted by both the University of Otago and the student.
How will it work?
Students will be encouraged to get the advice they need to make the right course decisions for them from the start of the process. It is therefore expected that students should have already received course advice before they enter paper selection.
A student's paper selection will be assessed and approved using a three tier approach:
- For a number of students, course approval will be an automated process via eVision. Courses in this category are Health Sciences First Year and Professional Health Sciences Qualifications; or
- Student Experience will check courses to ensure that regulations and some specific requirements have been met; or
- Divisions will give final approval for courses which require Divisional or Departmental involvement to resolve.
Selected staff working at Tier 2 (Student Experience) or Tier 3 (Divisions with the support of Departments) will be trained to act as Course Approvers.
Information on Change of Course forms will not be entered into the system if they have not been signed off by an appropriate Approver.
