LGBTTIQA+ staff information, resources and events

The University of Otago is dedicated to being an inclusive and accepting workplace that embraces, supports and celebrates the diversity of sexual and gender identities. At Otago we have a strong desire for every employee to feel valued.

LGBTTIQA+ stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, takatāpui, transgender, intersex, queer/questioning, asexual. Sexuality and gender identity vary greatly and not all people fit neatly into one of the commonly used terms. The “+” reflects this diversity. Other commonly used abbreviations are LGBT, LGBT+, LGBTQIA.

We are recognised as a Rainbow Tick certified employer, which means we meet a standard of inclusivity with respect to our staff's sexual orientation and gender identity, and are committed to continuous improvement.
