Offshore international students
If you're an international student outside New Zealand and have accepted a University of Otago international scholarship, your tuition scholarship value will be listed on your Offer of Place. You'll need to pay the remaining tuition fee as stated on your Offer of Place. Your official tuition fee receipt will show the scholarship value and fees paid.
This applies to the following scholarships: University of Otago Global Scholarship, Vice Chancellor's Scholarship for International Students, University of Otago International Partnership Scholarship and Vice Chancellor International Postgraduate Scholarship.
Onshore international students
If you're an international student studying at a New Zealand high school or foundation studies provider and have accepted a University of Otago Undergraduate Entrance scholarship, you can find the tuition scholarship value in your scholarship letter in the eVision portal.
Your admission Offer of Place will continue to show the full tuition fee. To determine how much you need to pay, subtract your tuition scholarship value from the full tuition fee; then make your payment. Your official tuition fee receipt will show the scholarship value and fees paid.
Other Research/Taught Master's, and PhD scholarship students
If you are a recipient of a University of a Otago International Research Master's Scholarship, Coursework Master's Scholarship, or Doctoral Scholarship you can find your tuition scholarship value in your scholarship letter in the eVision portal.
Your admission Offer of Place will continue to show the full tuition amount. To determine how much you need to pay, subtract the tuition scholarship value from the full tuition fee; then make your payment. Your official tuition fee receipt will show the scholarship value and fees paid.
Pathway scholarship students
If you are a recipient of a University of Otago Pathway / Te Huarahi scholarship for Foundation Studies Certificate or Diploma studies you'll be typically reimbursed the value of the tuition scholarship. This is because international students typically need to make tuition payments upfront to secure a student visa before these scholarships are awarded.
Students with a scholarship from their home country or other provider
Otago has formal agreements with several government scholarship providers who pay tuition fees directly to the University. Your Offer of Place will indicate if your fees will be paid to Otago by the scholarship provider.
If you have received another type of scholarship or funding arrangement for tuition fees from an external provider, please contact our Student Finance Team to check which documents you need to provide to arrange payment.
