The University

Since its establishment, NTU has been the leader of higher education in Taiwan and has faced and tackled a variety of challenges on the path toward excellence.

Prevailing adaptability and resilient tenacity have refined our esteemed institute to be steadfastly eminent and estimable. Today NTU consists of 16 colleges, 58 departments, 146 graduate institutes, as well as 34 Master's and PhD degree programs. NTU 's programs cover a wide array of disciplines across science, arts, and the humanities, with up to 8,000 courses made available for selection each semester.

As one of the safest cities in the world, Taipei is the perfect place to experience a vibrant metropolis. NTU ’s main campus is right next to shopping districts, night markets, and other exciting establishments. There are many places to visit and the city is safe to explore even late at night. If you want an escape from the lively noises, Taipei is surrounded by beautiful mountains with hiking trails, most of which are accessible by the city’s reliable public transportation system. Being a student at NTU means living in a city that has something for everyone.

Exchange information

  • Undergraduate level exchanges only
  • NTU offers more than 1800 English-taught classes across all our colleges plus English-taught programs for all levels of studies
  • Academic year: September to June (Fall semester: September–December; Spring semester: February–June)
  • Minimum/maximum course load: 3 courses per semester (6 credits)
  • GPA required to attend NTU : 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (B+ at Otago)
  • The course list for the first/second semester is available only from the beginning of August/January. Students should make a preliminary plan based on previous courses offered and adjust the plan when the latest course list is available
  • Students with only Taiwanese nationality are not eligible to attend NTU on exchange
  • Accommodation is not guaranteed due to the limited number of dormitory rooms
