About SIRC NZ 2013
SIRC NZ 2013 was the inaugural conference for GIS and remote sensing research in New Zealand. The conference was held over 2 days at the University of Otago, Dunedin, from Thursday 29th August to Friday 30th August 2013. SIRC NZ 2013 was run in parallel with the 125th Annual Conference of the New Zealand Institute of Surveyors, which was also a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the School of Surveying at the University of Otago.
Researchers, postgraduate students and practitioners working in GIScience (including spatial analysis, modelling, databasing and visualisation), remote sensing, photogrammetry, geocomputation and related subject areas of surveying, geography, information science, computer science, spatial ecology / biology and health were invited to participate in this event. Our two keynote speakers were Professor Nick Chrisman, RMIT University, Australia and Professor George Benwell, University of Otago, NZ. The programme for the conference is accessible via a link on this webpage. You can search for and read the abstracts from the conference too. Finally the entire pdf proceedings is available from the NZIS website.
A post-conference special feature in the Journal of Spatial Science (Vol.59.Iss.2, 2014) contained a selection of papers developed from abstracts presented at the conference.
