Overview
The Bachelor of Science (BSc) is a three-year undergraduate degree which enables each student to develop his or her own interests in a science subject (science major) and related subjects. Students have the flexibility to combine their major subject with other science subjects, as well as subjects from other disciplines across the University.
Major in Surveying Measurement
This three-year degree is comprised of the papers from the measurement science part of the Bachelor of Surveying degree. It is ideal for overseas students who wish to study surveying but without the New Zealand land law, statutory planning or land administration aspects of the longer degree. This degree would typically equate with three-year Geomatics degrees offered in places such as the United Kingdom. All applications for admission to this degree must be approved by the Surveying Admissions Committee. This degree can lead to post graduate study for a Post Graduate Diploma in Science, Masters of Surveying or Master of Science or a Doctorate in Philosophy.
Major in Land Planning and Development
This three-year degree is comprised of papers from the land development, engineering and planning aspects of the Bachelor of Surveying degree. It uniquely prepares students for advancement to a future career in the urban design, planning and development sector that integrates the engineering, design and resource consent issues that must be addressed when developing residential subdivisions or life-style blocks. This degree can lead to post graduate study for a Post Graduate Diploma in Science, Masters of Science or Master of Surveying or a Doctorate in Philosophy. Some students elect to go on to post graduate study by undertaking the Masters of Planning programme.
