Research

Paia's research interests lie within the realms of te reo Māori and tikanga Māori particularly within the contexts of whānau and education. Influenced by her and her husband's personal experiences raising four bilingual tamariki, Paia's masters research focused on teacher preparedness to teach te reo Māori speaking children in mainstream primary schools. Paia is a PhD candidate researching the intergenerational transmission of te reo Māori within her own whānau.
