Professor Kurt Krause works to understand the molecular structures involved in infectious diseases. By using X-ray crystallography, he can identify the structures of active sites in crystallised proteins of potential bioactive molecules. Finding inhibitors that will bind to those sites may lead to the development of effective drugs.
I have a vision that New Zealand could be involved in a major way in the development of new pharmaceuticals, treatments and vaccines against the increasing problem of Infectious disease.
