University accounts
When you first enrol at the University of Otago, a student username and account is automatically generated for you; this is based on the first 3 letters of your surname, the first two letters of your first name, and 3 random numbers. EG, for James Bond, his username could be bonja007. This username will get you into: Student desktop, eVision, Moodle, Blackboard, student email, printers, student wifi/wired network and many other services. Your university username will be on your Student ID card, but if you've forgotten the password, give the ITS Service Desk a call on 0800 479 888 and they can reset it for you.
Computer lab information
UOW uses the ITS Student Desktop, which is a computer accessed online, delivered through software called Citrix. All enrolled University of Otago students can access the student desktop from any of the 6 Computer Labs on the UOW campus or from their personal computer, so long as it has an internet connection. For more information about the Student Desktop, check out the ITS Student Desktop documentation. For more information about the student computer labs, see here.
Printing, copying and scanning
Every computer lab at UOW has a Canon Multi Function printer. Scanning to USB or Email is free, but for printing and copying, there are some charges:
- A4 Black and white: 10c/page
- A4 Colour: 50c/page
- A3 Black and white: 20c/page

In the UOW Medical Library, on Level D, is a Top-up Kiosk to add printing funds. This is available during Library open hours. More information on student printing is on the ITS Printing and Scanning pages.
