About

Huia Monro (she/her) is the Assistant Research Fellow and Programme Co-ordinator for the lived experience education and research programme World of Difference | He Ao Whakatoihara kore. Huia previously studied at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington where she completed her BA with a double major in Māori Studies and Philosophy.

Huia’s research interests include the impact of our conceptualisations of wellbeing, spirituality, and connection, as well as the role of Mātauranga Māori and Indigenous knowledge within the health system. Her work is informed by her lived experience, philosophical perspective, and cross-cultural lens, which serve as the foundation of her research.
