Summary
The Low Back Pain in General Practice study is looking at how low back pain is managed in general practice and how people recover following an episode of acute low back pain.
It will help to show the best way for doctors to treat people who have acute low back pain.
Status
All study data has been collected and is currently being analysed.

This study is being conducted by the Department of Primary Health Care and General Practice at the University of Otago, Wellington. The key research staff within this department are Associate Professor Ben Darlow, Professor Tony Dowell, Dr James Stanley, and Sue Garrett.
Additional collaborators are Associate Professor Haxby Abbott from the Dunedin School of Medicine Department of Surgical Sciences, and Associate Professor Sarah Dean from the University of Exeter Medical School.
Ethical approval
This study has been approved by the Health and Disability Ethics Committee 16/CEN/43
Funding
This study is being funded by the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC).
Involvement in this study does not affect the support people receive from ACC and ACC will not influence the care study participants receive. The analysis of this study's results will be conducted independently of ACC.
