The Art of Palliative Medicine - 2016 Semester 2
I chose to do a drawing as I found the palliative care topic and interview easier to express visually rather than with words. There is no way to describe the journey that will end your life. It is full of emotions, relationships and physical challenges that cannot be written.
The main thing I learned from the interview was that people's capacity for resilience is without limit. Despite his pain and dismal prognosis, both the patient and his wife were cheerful. They focused on the little positive things that were present in their lives rather than dwelling on the hardships. They made small goals and were grateful if they achieved them but not bitter if they didn't. It was inspiring and made me want to bring that attitude into my own life.
