The Art of Palliative Medicine - 2016 Semester 1
My image is of a young seedling sprouting in the center of a decaying world. A world which for all reasons should be drained of colour but still manages to produce joy. It is the development of something new surrounded by the decaying ruins of something once whole. I have chosen to colour in the seedling and to leave the surroundings colourless as we cannot change what has happened so we must focus on the new. This shifted focus results in the old becoming memories. It was the patient's acceptance that her life had changed and going in a new direction with a new appreciation for the little things that stuck with me and that is what inspired this creative piece.
