The Art of Palliative Medicine - 2018 Semester 2
The creative piece that I have created shows two aspects, the duality of death as one entity. The piece can be folded in half, showing one aspect of the two sides, or can be viewed as a single image. It is an unsettling combination. It demonstrates the fear of death, meshed with the peace and celebration of a fulfilled life coming to its natural end. I believe everyone acknowledges both these aspects of death, but truthfully most only accept the fear aspect when regarding their own life. I believe there comes a transition in those with a terminal disease. A spotlight is shone on your mortality. Forced to face the end of life drawing near, along with the support of palliation, allows some people to change their perspective to see the greater picture, able to focus on the angelic features.
