Research interests and activities  

Ryan is a senior research fellow for the Health Promotion and Policy Research Unit at the University of Otago, Wellington. He completed a Master's thesis in 2017 on sun protection practices among primary schoolchildren and the cost-effectiveness of installing shade in schools. He is currently working on research projects looking at UV exposure, skin cancer prevention and children's exposure to marketing.
