I completed my nursing training in Australia at the University of Melbourne. I went on to nurse at Peter Mac Callum Cancer Centre before returning to New Zealand. I continued in the specialty of oncology at the Wellington Blood and Cancer Centre in various management and senior nursing positions. I have joined the Colorectal Surgery Team at Capital and Coast District Health Board in the inaugural role of Clinical Nurse Specialist for Colorectal Disease. I am particularly interested in how health care systems and interventions impact the outcomes for patients and how we can identify and mitigate the associated factors in order to improve health outcomes, with particular focus on minority groups.
