Romanisation of Chinese Characters

In order to make the information in the Roll of most use to people doing research on the Chinese diaspora, we have had to use one of the internationally recognised forms of transliterating Cantonese names and terms (rather than the forms used in the printed version of the Roll). We have used the Sidney Lau system of romanisation for Cantonese names, but also provide the Chinese characters, and the pinyin romanisation as well.
