Catherine Chidgey – 2005-06

Catherine Chidgey entered her Burns Fellowship in 2005 having published three much-acclaimed novels: In a Fishbone Church (1998), Golden Deeds (2000) and The Transformation (2003). During her extended one and a half-year tenure, she continued work on her fourth novel, which is still in progress, wrote a short story for the anthology Are Angels OK? The Parallel Universes of New Zealand Writers and Scientists (2006), and translated two children's stories from German. Here are the two colourful Gecko Press publications: Donkeys and Elfrida.
