The second issue of the New Zealand Avalanche Dispatch (NZAD) was released in September. It provides a strong follow-up to the inaugural issue of this community led publication, with a wealth of information for snow and avalanche professionals and recreationalists alike. The editorial team have done a great job in putting together what will be an invaluable resource for those who work and play in the mountains of Aotearoa.
We are pleased to have been able to contribute to the second issue, with an article profiling the Mountain Research Centre and our current research activities. Nicolas Cullen has also contributed a piece profiling the New Zealand Snow and Avalanche Committee (NZSAC, of which he is convenor). NZSAC is an independent body that connects stakeholders in the avalanche sector in order to foster avalanche safety and reduce risk to those operating and travelling in the mountains.
With ski area operations wrapped up for the year, and the alpine touring season drawing to an end, the NZAD will provide welcome reading over summer months. We look forward to the next winter issue in 2021!
